well i dun really agree with you as i have experienced having used car engines and so on...well it was giving me alot of problems and i had to spend so much all the time that i got sick and i thought it would be just better for me to stick to the brand new ones even though it is quite pricy...well anyway this is my opinion..hope to read more about this second hand car engines...keep up ur work!!!

In my sincere opinion, I agree with u that used car engines r as good as ordinary engines.The engines just need good maintainence from their respective owners.An overhaul for any used engine would bring back the engine to its original state.
Although the overhaul might be costly it will be worth to keep & maintain a reliable engine.For instance the Magma engine in 1985 Proton Saga owned by my dad still functions up to now.
Your point was worth debating Mr.Nivin.Even Brand new engines give problems at times.I suggest that you cover a small topic on used engine maintenance.This will make people understand more about used engines.

Your article is somewhat true to an extent. If the previous owner of the car maintained an engine well then u would get a reliable engine in a relative manner. If the owner was a lousy owner you would get the biggest piece of junk you would have ever owned. so i guess it all boils down to pure luck. i hope that you come out with an article on using rear wheel engines as well because that is an area of interest to me. thanks.

Used engine?Hmmm.If you really think about it, when u buy those used engine u can't really get to test it.So, from the outside it might look good but when you fit it into the car, things might not be the way you expected it to be.Plus, most modern engines have electronic controls set specifically for the particular engine.Changing a used engine might cause the electronic systems to go crazy,at times.That's my point of view.
well i feel that used car engines is not as good as the new engines...most of the old engines gives a lot of problem...new car engines is more better….it can last longer compared 2 the used engines….futhermore, we cant know whether used car engines is going 2 work properly or not….plus we wont know whether it is in a good condition or not……

Morever as time passes by and due to technological development, he modified the car to become Proton aeroback because the engine is in very good condition and it was just the appearance of the car which made it look old.So instead of changing to a new car, he painted the car as good as new and modified the back portion.People under the impression that he is in possession of a new Proton aeroback.
So in other words, this would be a good example of a used car engine being as new.It's all in the hands of the owner to maintain the car well.
Once again, I was very taken up with your page and i'm hoping that there will be more bolgs like this in the future.

When we speak of used engines and new engines, of course the preferences go to the new engine. A fresh engine out of the production line is more likely to be selected then a used one.
Used engines are divided into certain categories such as recon, half cut and imported.
However speaking in terms of $$$, getting a new engine will cost a bundle where else a 2nd hand is cheaper(even cheaper than do to full overhaul) but there is always a doubt on the previous maintance history of the engine. Overall getting a second hand engine is risk.
Note as well when the engine is being changed other powertrain components(ECU, fuel injector) as well have to be checked to ensure right comparability to the 2nd hand engine.
